Clashes reported in Jodhpur; CM calls it "unfortunate"; internet service is suspended

Following reports of clashes in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, chief minister Ashok Gehlot issued a late-night tweet calling the incident 'unfortunate.' Internet access has been temporarily suspended in the area, according to the news agency ANI. "It is unfortunate that tension has arisen as a result of a clash between two groups at Jalori Gate in Jodhpur." "At all costs, the administration has been directed to maintain peace and order," the chief minister wrote in Hindi. "Respecting the tradition of love and brotherhood of Jodhpur, Marwar, I make a touching appeal to all to maintain peace and cooperate in creating law and order," he wrote in another post on Tuesday morning.

The clashes were reported as Rajasthan prepared to celebrate Eid, a Muslim holiday, and Akshaya Tritiya, a Hindu holiday.
