Mohammed Riaz, a former hockey captain, has been appointed as a Hockey India selector.

 


N Mohammed Riaz, a former Indian hockey team captain and Arjuna Awardee (1998), has been named to the Hockey India selection committee.

The veteran hockey player's first task as a selector will be to choose the Indian men's team for the Asia Cup, which will take place in Jakarta from May 23 to June 1.


Mohammed Riaz will later serve on the selection committee for the Indian men's teams for the FIH Pro League matches against Belgium and the Netherlands.


Riaz has represented India for over a decade, appearing in two Olympics (1996 Athens and 2000 Sydney) and two World Cups. He has two Asian Games medals, one gold in Bangkok in 1988 and one silver in Hiroshima in 1994.
